Surviscor’s Online Discount Brokerage scorCard is a comprehensive, impartial audit of online features and functionality that scores each firm on a 100pt scale. Surviscor focused on investors in Canada and looked at three types; the passive, the serious and the active. The Winter 2010 analysis introduced a more robust scorCard with improved categories and the addition of more sub-categories bringing the total to thirty-one. “It’s exciting to have so many firms so close to each other especially when we ask close to 2200 questions” said Mr. LaCoste, President of Surviscor. “There is still major room for improvement. The main concern is that no firm has taken its offering to the next level to reach a more respectable score closer to the maximum of 100.” added LaCoste. Surviscor has been conducting the review for over three years.

TD Waterhouse retained its top spot in four of the seven main categories including ‘Website Design’, ‘Market Intelligence’, ‘Website Transactions’ and ‘Online Resources’ despite only five sub-category top scores. Credential Direct did not have a category win and recorded five sub-category wins. RBC Direct Investing lead the way with seven sub-category wins, the most in the review. BMO InvestorLine retained its top spot in the all-important ‘Getting Started’ category which measured the public website features for existing and potential customers prior to actual login. Qtrade was the top Customer Email Responsiveness (CER) firm based on the 2006 Surviscor year-in-review.
